Doctors of Chiropractic, often called chiropractors, are healthcare professionals who specialize in the spine, muscles, joints, and the nervous system. Chiropractors complete at least seven years of post-secondary academic and clinical education, and many pursue additional training in specialized areas of care. They are uniquely qualified to evaluate your condition, identify the cause of your pain, and provide treatment to help restore movement and improve overall function.
Chiropractic care is a patient-focused, non-invasive, hands-on health care practice that is focused on your spine, muscles, joints, and nervous system. We develop individualized care plans (after a thorough exam and on-site x-ray imaging) designed to help you get back to your best YOU.
An adjustment is a type of manual treatment that helps to realign your joints by performing a "controlled, but fast, directional thrust into the joint." When performed by a chiropractor, adjustments or "spinal manipulations" aim to alleviate/eliminate pain and promote proper joint function.
No. While the sounds during an adjustment can seem intimidating, most patients find that the anticipation is the worst part. During your visit, the doctor will communicate with you to make sure you are comfortable throughout the process. Some people may experience mild soreness for a day or two afterward, which is completely normal as your body adjusts.
Appointments are scheduled in 15-minute increments. After your adjustment, you may also have the option to relax in a massage chair for about 15 minutes while receiving ice therapy and electrical stimulation if those treatments are part of your personalized care plan.
Your care plan is unique to you, and the way your body heals and responds to treatment is unique as well. Some conditions develop over time, and correcting long-standing issues may take additional time and care. While many patients begin to feel relief during care, the primary goal of chiropractic treatment is to address the underlying problem—not just the symptoms. Chiropractic care can also support better overall health and wellness if you choose to use it as part of your long-term health routine.
Since each individual is unique, each care plan is unique. Doctor Leonard takes the time to get to know you and your particular symptoms to develop a course of treatment to help you reach your goals and expectations. After an initial exam and on-site x-rays, the doctor may be able to provide an estimate of the time frame. We typically see patients three times for the first week or two, and as your symptoms decrease, the number of visits will too!
That decision is always up to you! Once you start feeling better, the doctor may recommend a monthly maintenance visit to help keep your spine aligned and prevent problems from returning. Many patients choose periodic wellness visits to maintain the progress they’ve made and support their overall health.

After your new patient exam and X-ray appointment, adjustment visits typically range from $40–$50, depending on the areas of the body being adjusted.
